An accomplished producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist
and performing artist, Clay Cook's name has
been a staple of the southeast's musical landscape
for quite some time.
While attending the Berklee College of Music,
Clay met two important subsequent collaborators,
guitarist and fellow songwriter John Mayer,
and bassist Matt Mangano.
In 1998, Clay and John formed the Lo-Fi Masters,
the critically lauded Atlanta duo. During this
time, Clay would co-write John Mayer's future
hits "No Such Thing," and "Neon."
Later, Clay joined and toured with the Marshall
Tucker Band; playing guitar, pedal steel, piano,
organ, alto sax, and flute during their live
performances.
And in 2003, Clay briefly signed on to play
bass with country act Sugarland.
Clay recently produced a full length record
with Atlanta artist Davin McColl (www.myspace.com/davinmccoll),
an ep with the Josh Graff Band, and will produce
a record for Gareth Asher this December.
He's touring the U.S. with Shawn Mullins, opening
the shows as a solo artist, and playing guitar,
mandolin, hammond, and adding background vocals
during Shawn's set.
