John Hopkins is a true artist, as a regular
stage performer since high school and a songwriter
just as long. John could have graduated from
the University of Georgia with a degree in business,
but instead chose to pursue a degree in theatre
from Florida State University. In Florida, he
formed the band Brighter Shade, from which he
gleaned the name of his current studio.
Brighter Shade the band was also the catalyst
for his recording career as a producer and engineer.
"I just started recording my own songs,
made an offer to record someone else's for cheap,
and 10 years later I have my own studio."
In fact, John's Brighter Shade Studios, located
in Atlanta's 800 East Studio Complex (www.800east.com),
contains one of the most enviable collections
of vintage gear in the southeast.
Recently, John has produced songs for the Zac Brown Band, a record for Atlanta artist Sonia Leigh, and a record for the Eric Dodd Band from Athens, GA.
